2009 ARRL 10-Meter Contest

Well, just as I'm getting ready for this year's contest, and having by now completely forgotten about last year's, I get this nice certificate in the mail. Talk about a pleasant surprise!

Upon further review, I had only 3 QSOs on that contest, no wonder I did not remember it at all, as there was nothing to howl about. But given enough categories, Single Operator, Phone Only, Low Power, I probably had no competition in the WNY Section!

I sure am hoping to do better this year. I guess the goal might not be too high! I'm sure glad the score is not on the certificate, but that certificate sure has re-energized me and is a great motivator.

Thank you ARRL! This one goes on my wall!

  1. In WNY there were 17 submitted logs.

You were the only submission for that class/power category though which is why you won. And it looks like you had 2 contacts according to the results.

  2. You are right David, that's 2QSOs. They rejected 33.33333333% of my submission and yet I got the award :)

This just shows that sometimes, it pays to submit the log, even when it is ridiculously small!

  3. I won an ARRL VHF contest in a similar way. I went "rover" where 4 grid squares meet up and made a bunch of contacts on 2m and 440 FM with club members. I submitted my log and won rover for NNJ.

I had 31 Q's in last years 10m contest but there were folks in NNJ in my class that had many more. I will make some this year but won't be around tomorrow and who knows how 10m will be anyway. You have your title to defend so get on the air!
